Meg Moreta is an inspirational One Week Bath™ Customer. She shared with us that she had One Week Bath tm remodel her two bathrooms to “wipe away the memories of her debilitating bout with cancer.” Ongoing radiation and chemotherapy had left Meg spending much of her time being ill in her bathroom. We are so proud and honored to be included in her journey to recovery….part of that emotional recovery involved erasing the past and creating two new beautiful bathrooms that represent a fresh and healthy new start.
We’d like to share Meg’s story with you. I think you’ll find it enlightening and also hope that her journey will help others avoid the unnecessary trauma she experienced. Thankfully, Meg is now a five year cancer survivor in complete remission, and the mother of two beautiful little girls, Gabrielle, age 7 and Madeline, age 5.
Meg is a nutritionist, married to a pulmonary critical care doctor. Her story began during pregnancy with her second child. Entering the second trimester, Meg began experiencing severe, prolonged back pain for which she sought out medical attention. She was continually misdiagnosed though the course of her pregnancy, and was actually accused of being mentally unstable and seeking pain medications without cause. By the time she gave birth, the daily pain was excruciating. Meg was seriously ill, but no one knew why.
Six weeks after daughter Madeline was borne, Meg was diagnosed with 3B cervical cancer, and found out later that every one of her pap smears, over the past 5 years, had been misread by the laboratory. As if that weren’t enough, four months after undergoing treatment for cervical cancer, Meg learned that she also had breast cancer. It took almost an entire year of chemotherapy and radiation for Meg to recover. Because the cervical cancer was so advanced, the treatment was aggressive and, as a result, she also suffered numerous complications.
By the time it was all said and done, Meg had been through such trauma that even the blessing of health and a new baby couldn’t wipe away the years of illness and treatment. Meg’s whole family also needed time and space to recover from the continual mental and emotional anguish that had taken over their lives.
Today, Meg is the picture of health and lives a cancer-free life with the love and support of her amazing husband and children. Her story is nothing short of a miracle. Meg’s message is this: Be proactive in your health care. Never let anyone tell you your pain is imagined. Follow up every test, keep track of your own records, and never give up until you are satisfied with your treatment.
The story of Meg and One Week Bath tm is inspirational. We always hear terrific stories and testimonials about how our service really does improve people’s lives. Meg’s story takes this concept to a whole new level and we are grateful to be able to do what we do every day and have helped Meg and her family.
Many thanks and wishes of health and happiness to the Moreta family.
